Dr. Shegog is a public health leader, educator, scholar, and advocate whose career advances health equity through systems change, strategic partnerships, policy leadership, and community-centered action. Her work spans public health education, healthcare delivery, community engagement, and advocacy, with a sustained focus on improving access, outcomes, and accountability for historically underserved populations.
Across public and private-sector organizations, Dr. Shegog has led and contributed to high-impact initiatives in education, program development, federal and state policy, and resource mobilization. She brings particular expertise in building cross-sector partnerships, advancing priority health initiatives, and expanding funding for communities and programs with demonstrated need. Her experience also includes grant development and peer review for leading public health institutions, including the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state health departments. In addition, she has served on nonprofit boards committed to advancing health equity at the national level.
